Our world-class metallurgists, materials engineers and laboratory specialists conduct a variety of tests for our energy-sector clients in our state-of-the-art facilities, which also includes a full-service failure analysis lab. We produce timely and practical answers to our customer's problems.
Energy-focused laboratory services include:
- Failure analysis: Analyses are conducted to determine the cause of equipment or structural failures. Failure Analysis provides valuable information that can be used to prevent future issues
- Metallurgical Laboratory: Lloyd's Register Energy business metallurgists and materials engineers conduct tests using our scanning electron microscope (SEM), which is fitted with an energy dispersive spectroscope (EDS) that is able to detect light elements. Our SEM allows evaluation of samples up to 5" in diameter
- Field Metallography and Replication (FMR): With this technique, we bring the laboratory to your installation or processing facility. With FMR, we evaluate surface connected flaws found by magnetic penetrant inspection. FMR has a wide variety of valuable applications
- Incident Investigation and Litigation Support: Lloyd's Register laboratory experts are available to support our clients in legal matters
